Data Platform Engineer and Full Stack Developer

About Vivid Reports

Vivid Reports builds Excel-native financial reporting and analytics software for CFOs and financial planning and analysis teams. We not only build web applications, we build metrics engines similar to a BI semantic layer that powers Excel reporting.

We believe Chief Financial Officers want Excel as their front end, but it must be powered by a governed, high-performance metrics engine behind it. We build reporting engines powered by a semantic layer that allows organizations to define KPIs once, govern them centrally, and reuse them across every Excel report the company builds, securely and at speed.
We are not building dashboards. We are building the engine behind trusted financial reporting.

You are the type of engineer that wants to be challenged and work with complex query engines, OLAP systems, semantic layers, BI tooling, financial reporting systems and ETL pipelines. All work is conducted in English. Applicants must have advanced written and verbal English communication skills.

The Role

We are hiring a Data Platform Engineer and Full Stack Developer with leadership and architecture skills that can visualize an outcome, break it to pieces, and deliver successfully.

This role is hands-on. You must understand system and data architecture and have experience designing and building business intelligence or data-driven platforms.

You enjoy building clean, high-performance backend systems as much as refining a UI to make it intuitive and visually polished.

Experience using AI-assisted development tools is highly valued. We are looking for engineers who are open-minded and practical about leveraging AI, knowing where it accelerates development, improves quality, and enhances productivity, and where sound engineering judgment still matters most.

- Fact and dimension modeling
- Grain enforcement and join path validation
- Metadata driven KPI formula engine
- Versioning, lineage, and change-impact tracking
- Role and row level security enforcement

Excel Integration
- Excel Web Add-in built with the Microsoft Office JavaScript API
- Excel open XML
- Cell binding to governed metrics

Platform and APIs
- Backend architecture built on the Microsoft .NET platform
- Background workers

Required Experience
- Deep backend architecture built on the Microsoft platform

- Experience owning or stabilizing a production SaaS product
- Experience with Excel integration or building complex web-based integrations
- Solid understanding of data modeling (facts, dimensions, grain)
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical design

Over the Next 12 to 18 Months You Will
- Assume technical co-ownership of the product
- Contribute to multi-quarter architecture and roadmap planning
- Improve scalability, security, and system reliability
- Support sales and customer technical discussions
- Plan for team expansion and mentor junior engineers

This Role Is For Someone Who
- Thinks in systems, not tickets
- Cares deeply about performance and correctness
- Can move comfortably between backend, database, and front-end
- Wants architectural ownership, not just feature work",
