Job Description

Cozy Game Studio is looking for a Game Designer for a 4-month contract (full-time or part-time).
As a Game Designer at Cozy Game Studio, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the mechanics and systems of our games. You will be instrumental in bringing our cozy gaming experiences to life, ensuring they are engaging, balanced, and resonate with our audience.
Please note: this role is heavily focused on systems design, game economy, and balancing.

Things you would be doing:
- Designing, tweaking, and balancing the game economy
- Creating and refining crafting systems (linking resources, buildings, and crafted items)
- Designing engaging quests that drive gameplay and integrate seamlessly into the game economy
- Potentially implementing levels in Unity (this is a plus, but not a strict requirement)
- Collaborating closely with the Game Director to ensure that the systems are in coherence with the rest of the design

Who this role is for:
- You are a highly analytical systems thinker who loves getting into the weeds of numbers and spreadsheets
- You have prior experience balancing game economies and designing interconnected crafting systems
- You understand free-to-play (F2P) mobile game development principles, including data-driven development and user validation
- You actively support a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, inclusiveness, and creativity

Who this role is NOT for:
This role is not for someone who wants to focus primarily on narrative design, level aesthetics, or high-level feature conceptualization without the heavy lifting of mathematical balancing. If tuning numbers and building system economies isn't your passion, this is not the right fit for you.

Practicalities:
- Position is contract-based - 4 months (full-time or part-time)
- Salary: 2500 EUR per month (full-time equivalent; pro-rated for part-time hours)*
- The job is either remote or on-site at our office in V74, Vesterbrogade 74, Copenhagen V, Denmark
- Our working language is English
*We welcome applications from regions where this compensates well for a full-time role, but remain open to discussing a part-time arrangement pro-rated against this full-time equivalent budget.
