International company based in Toronto, Canada is looking for an individual who is eager to cut their teeth in a fast-paced environment to join one of our transit companies. Our team needs someone flexible enough to adapt, learn on the fly, and ensure the key financial functions are operating smoothly. \nAs a General Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions. This role typically involves processing customer billing and vendor payments, supporting collection efforts, preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling various general ledger accounts, and supporting month-end and year-end close activities. You will interact with all levels of leadership and be the main point of contact for routine finance queries. The successful candidate will be detail oriented and self-motivated, a quick learner and versatile that is comfortable working in a fast paced and evolving environment. They will have excellent problem-solving skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. This position requires someone who can work within a team, both within the finance group and with employees at all levels of the organization.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: \n Handle billing, collections, cash and payment processing \n Support the month end close process accruals analysis, journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis \n Complete monthly GL account reconciliations including bank rec, AR, AP, clearing accounts \n Account for fixed assets, depreciation, and update continuity schedules \n Process full cycle payroll entries; upload and track expense reports from the expense management software into the accounting system\n Post intercompany transactions and assist with month end intercompany reconciliation\n Prepare Sales tax reporting and reconcile related accounts, resolve variances \n Continually look for opportunities to improve systems and processes \n Assist in ad hoc analysis, reporting, and administrative functions as needed\nREQUIREMENTS: \n 5+ years experience as a general/supervising accountant or similar role is mandatory \n Bachelors degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or business administration is required \n Intermediate level MS Excel skills including LOOKUPs and pivot tables is required \n Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with good time management and prioritization skills\n Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team \n Comfortable in a fast-paced, growing, dynamic work environment; must be self-motivated and willing to take initiative to get things done \n Ability to work with all levels of management and effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds \n Attention to detail, timeliness on delivering commitments, and the ability to multitask and prioritize \n Ability to gather data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and propose solutions. \n Excellent analytical, written, and verbal skills\n Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures \n Prior experience in a software company or exposure to project/accounting would be considered an asset\n Experience with Accounting Software (Great Plains, NetSuite, OpenAir) would be considered an asset \n Recently qualified or working towards a CPA designation will be an asset",
