We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with a strong focus on systems architecture to lead the evolution of a large-scale platform in the hotel sector.
This position is key in the modernization of a Java/Spring monolith towards a more modular and event-oriented architecture, working with distributed systems, real-time data and complex integrations at a global level.
Responsibilities:
Lead the architecture and technical roadmap of the Java/Spring monolith, driving its evolution towards a modular domain-based architecture.
Design and build event-driven systems using AWS Kinesis, SQS/SNS and Spring Cloud Stream.
Improve and evolve GraphQL APIs and critical backend services for pricing, inventory and hotel demand management.
Manage and optimize databases such as MongoDB, Redis and PostgreSQL in high load and multi-user environments.
Implement and improve system observability with tools such as OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana and Sentry.
Drive adoption of AI-assisted development workflows within engineering teams.
Define technical standards through RFCs and architectural documents (evolution of schemes, contracts and design patterns).
Mentor engineers from different teams and contribute to the improvement of engineering practices globally.
Requirements:
7+ years of experience in large-scale backend development.
Experience with Java and Spring Framework (including JVM optimization).
Experience in event-oriented architectures (AWS Kinesis, Kafka or similar).
Advanced knowledge of distributed system design and domain decomposition.
Experience in AWS cloud environments (EKS, ECS, S3, SQS/SNS, IAM).
Ability to lead technical decisions and write architectural documentation without formal authority.
Valuable:
Experience with Python for automation or tooling.
Advanced experience with MongoDB (indexing, aggregations, sharding).
Experience with AI-assisted development tools (LLMs, agents, MCP).
Experience in migrating from monoliths to microservices or modular architectures.
Knowledge of the hotel sector (PMS/CRS, pricing, forecasting).
