Job Description

Atlas is a New Zealand-based consultancy specializing in transport and infrastructure design. We offer a wide range of services, including civil, hydraulic, structural, railway, geotechnical and pavement engineering. Our team delivers projects using advanced 3D digital design technology. We are characterized by our agility, responsiveness and rigorous technical approach. We have a solid reputation and a consolidated project portfolio until 2027.

We are looking for a Civil Engineer with between 4 and 10 years of experience in transportation infrastructure, with the ability to assume technical leadership of the design within defined work packages.

We are looking for someone with strong technical judgment, practical experience and excellent English communication skills. It's not about leading teams, but about leading design: someone who can receive a clear scope and autonomously develop the necessary deliverables.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing complete technical reports, models, drawings and design documentation, ensuring that solutions are practical, coordinated and constructive.

The ideal profile will have knowledge in platform design for transportation infrastructure, including subgrade, subbase and granular layers, earthworks and storm drainage integration. It is desirable to have experience in construction environments that allows understanding the real viability of the proposed solutions.

You will also be responsible for writing consistent technical reports, identifying design risks, and coordinating with multiple disciplines when necessary. We are looking for someone who can take charge of a technical package from start to finish, without the need for constant supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Assume full technical responsibility for assigned design packages.
• Develop models, plans, reports and technical deliverables necessary for each project.
• Design road or railway platforms, including the structural layers of the pavement, the subgrade and the granular materials.
• Develop earth moving, cutting, filling and leveling solutions with your own technical criteria.
• Integrate surface and underground drainage into the transportation corridor design.
• Propose protection solutions against erosion or scour when the project requires it.
• Translate terrain constraints and field observations into informed design decisions.
• Technically coordinate with specialists in drainage, structures, geotechnics and the environment.
• Identify design risks and contribute to Safety in Design (SiD) records.
• Ensure compliance with Australian and New Zealand technical standards and regulations.
• Deliver work within the deadline, scope and defined quality standards.

Requirements:

• University degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Between 4 and 10 years of experience in civil or transportation infrastructure design.
• Participation in multidisciplinary linear infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in the design of platforms and structural layers of pavements or railways.
• Experience in earthworks and storm drainage integration.
• Practical knowledge of construction processes, with minimal experience in the field.
• Familiarity with basic geotechnical aspects, such as subgrade behavior and ground conditions.
• Experience in Security in Design (SiD) processes.
• Knowledge of the technical regulations applicable to transport in Australia or New Zealand, valuable.
• Use of design software such as Civil 3D, OpenRoads or other similar ones, with real capacity for modeling and developing plans.
• Advanced level of technical, oral and written English. The first interview will be conducted entirely in English.
• Ability to work autonomously and assume direct technical responsibility for deliverables.
• Proactive, decisive and results-oriented profile.

Benefits:

• Competitive salary based on experience, with performance bonuses.
• Completely remote work.
• Stable workload and long-term projection.
• Participation in challenging infrastructure projects.
• Exposure to international standards and clients.
• Demanding and quality-oriented technical environment.",
