Job Description

We are looking for a Narrative Designer/Writer for a 4-month contract (preferably freelance) starting in May. As our Narrative Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the soul of Spirit World. You'll work closely with the team to develop a welcoming magical world that feels alive and quirky.
The game's theme is "becoming a witch," and it heavily features magic and nature, but we're moving away from traditional medieval tropes. We need someone who can create a world that feels fresh, modern and engaging, and who can write bold, funny and sharp dialogue.

What you will do:
- Develop the world of Spirit World in collaboration with the team.
- Write the general arc of the story.
- Creation of new and memorable characters.
- Design story beats that fit perfectly into our game loops.
- Write dialogue

Who is this role for:
- You are a writer who loves cozy, magical, nature-inspired themes.
- You have a special ability to write short, powerful dialogues that stand out.
- You want to use your storytelling skills to promote wellness, relaxation, and self-care in players' lives.
- Actively supports a culture of collaboration, mutual respect and inclusion.

Who this role is NOT for:
- Writers looking to build dark, gritty or medieval fantasy worlds. Our magic is cozy, modern and quirky.
- Those who prefer to work in a silo; This role requires close collaboration to ensure the narrative is consistent with the game design and art direction.

Practical aspects:
- The position is contractual - 4 months (full-time, part-time or freelance)
- Salary: €2,000 per month (full-time equivalent; prorated for part-time hours)*
- Work is remote or in-person at our office at V74, Vesterbrogade 74, Copenhagen V, Denmark
- Our working language is English.
*We welcome applications from regions where this compensates well for a full-time position, but we remain open to discussing a prorated part-time arrangement against this full-time equivalent budget.
