Safebox LLC provides strategic IT leadership, robust security, and operational excellence tailored specifically for mid-market enterprises. We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer (remote) to work with our tech client. Mandatory skills for this role include: Cobol, CICS, zOS connect, JCL, VSAM, MQ.

What you’ll do:
-Design, develop, and maintain Cobol, CICS, zOS connect, JCL, VSAM, MQ
-Write clean, efficient, and well-documented COBOL code.
-Develop and enhance batch COBOL programs, including COBOL stored procedures.
-Perform regular maintenance and support for existing COBOL applications.
-Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues.
-Ensure the reliability and performance of legacy systems.
-Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements.
-Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
-Develop and execute unit tests to ensure the functionality and quality of applications.
-Support integration and user acceptance testing (UAT).
-Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for COBOL applications, including design specifications, user guides, and operational procedures.
-Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
-Work closely with other developers, system administrators, and project managers to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
-5+ years’ experience working with Cobol
-Proven experience as a COBOL Developer or similar role.
-Experience with Mainframe Cobol ,CICS, zOS connect, JCL, VSAM, MQ
-Strong knowledge of COBOL programming language.
-Proficiency in using COBOL development tools
-Experience with CICS, zOS connect, JCL, VSAM, MQ skills
-Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
-Strong communication and collaboration skills.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Experience with migrating COBOL applications to modern platforms (preferred but not required)",
