What You’ll Do
Job Purpose
Design, build, and operate core backend services and APIs across Oracle, cloud, security, and internal systems. Ensure consistency, scalability, availability, and observability. Enable data pipelines and asset synchronization for workflows like file upload, reporting, models, and future features.
The Senior Software Engineer is expected to perform the role in a manner that emulates Convergint’s core Values and Beliefs.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services with strong observability
Own projects end-to-end from design through implementation and rollout
Architect inter-service communication and data models
Integrate with Oracle and third parties; ensure data quality and consistency
Build backend components for secure file upload, reporting, and models
Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to deliver integrations
Evolve APIs used by internal and external software

What We’re Looking For
Key Competencies and Skills
Core Competencies
: Systems thinking, pragmatic architecture, strong ownership, clear communication
Technical Skills
: Ruby and Rails (ideally); alternatively, experience with backend languages such as Python or Go; MySQL or relational databases; REST APIs; inter-service communication; observability; Oracle and third-party integrations
Behavioral Skills
: Collaborative, adaptable, dependable across time zones
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's in CS or equivalent experience
Experience: 5+ years backend engineering with production APIs/services
Plus: Familiarity with modern AI‑assisted development workflows
Certifications not required

Scope and Impact
Strengthen standardized backend capabilities across systems and regions to improve scalability, reliability, and delivery speed for integration-heavy initiatives and future product surfaces.
Performance Metrics
On-time delivery of backend projects meeting reliability and performance targets
API and service availability SLOs achieved
Accurate data synchronization with third-party systems (e.g., Oracle)
Positive stakeholder feedback

Working Environment and Benefits
Remote Work at Convergint Tech
This role requires at least four hours of daily overlap with Eastern US time. Only candidates based in the Americas will be considered.
