Job Description
The role involves designing and building the core Bunny Database and Edge Scripting systems, which are fast, composable and fully integrated into the global CDN platform.
We will work with backend services in Rust, integrate SQLite-based engines, and refine the developer experience so that deployment at the edge is as seamless as running code locally.
Responsibilities:
Design, build and operate the core services that power Bunny Database and Edge Scripting, using Rust as the primary language.
Integrate libSQL/SQLite storage engines and create reliable and intuitive APIs.
Implement and develop control plane, data plane, and observability pipelines with modern metrics and logging stacks and automated build and deployment workflows.
Be responsible for the full software development cycle: architecture, coding, automated testing, deployment, on-call rotations, and post-incident reviews.
Collaborate with the product team to turn daily problems into features that improve the user experience.
Continuously optimize to achieve low latency and horizontal scalability across a global PoP network.
Write clear technical documentation and example applications that show best practices.
Requirements:
5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years in Rust.
Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern build ecosystems to create Edge Scripting and EdgeDB samples and SDKs.
Knowledge of distributed systems, asynchronous programming and network protocols (gRPC, WebSockets, etc.).
Hands-on experience running production workloads in Linux containers and operating CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with SQ databases, experience with libSQL or SQLite is a plus.
